Help ID These Heads

I have a set of small block heads that were on a remanufactured 350. The odd thing is, the rebuilder ground the casting number right off the heads. What purpose does that serve? The date code is still there though, they are from '75 or '85. All that's left to ID them is the casting marks on the ends.

OK, I finally figured it out. They are heads from an '85 305, the 416 cast in the end is the last 3 digits of the casting #. I've already got a set of these junkers... now I have 2 sets for scrap.

I still wonder why the rebuilder ground off the casting numbers. I guess so they wouldn't get busted for putting common 305 heads on a 350. I'm finding out this company was a joke. I haven't checked it with a mic yet, but I don't think they bored the cylinders either. It all looks fresh, but there's a bit of a ridge at the top of each cylinder, which a fresh motor shouldn't have. There's no .030 marking on the pistons either.

I have a set of the 450's too. I have been told they are better and mine have been ported so I have been hanging on to them.
