Planning my Suburban build - Advice wanted

Your vehicle is setup perfectly for what you've described as your stated purpose. Maybe get some crossover steering into it but beyond that, it sounds like you want to do it for looks. And that's okay. But it's even overkill for what you've stated. I have similar intentions for my rig, and it's on 10 bolts with 31's and a 2" lift lol.

As stated above, I'd definitely lean towards a GM D60. That what I did for my build and couldn't be happier with it. It was a straight bolt in, the brakes are awesome and its as strong. You'd end up spending a lot of time and money modifying a ford D60 to fit. You may also need a driver side drop transfer case if you go that route (more $$ and headaches). The GM D60 is a bit harder to find, and more $$ up front, but it will be worth the time and effort savings.

I have a 6" lift on mine and I run 37" rubber with only minor rubbing at full flex with no fender trimming. You'd probably get away with a 4" lift if you trim your fenders aggressively.

I've got similar end use goals, and I've had a lot of the same thoughts. Ultimately I don't have much input but I'm watching to get some of the same advice you are
4" and 37s with trimming is on my mind as well, have thought about the 05+ SD Dana 60 as well, good to hear some thoughts on that route. Subscribed for more...

My 91 has a tuff country EZ ride 6" all spring lift with 37's and I still had to tastefully trim my fenders. Heavy rear tire carrier bumper and winch bumper up front made it worse.

Sliding that front axle forward an inch would help with the firewall side.

And count me down for another vote for just running a GM Dana 60.
