I have a 1987 V20 with a 350 and i am looking to put long tube headers on it. I was wondering if anyone has insite on the best brand and any other mods that will need to be done to clear the headers.

Thanks

If you still have your fuel injection on it you will have to weld in tabs on the headers for O2 sensors (someone correct me if I'm wrong), if your carb'd then scratch that. Hedman, Hooker, and Doug's headers are good quality. Seems you get what you pay for with headers, but theres no need to spend $700 on a pair. As far as other modifications required, you may have to buy new plug wires depending on the style of header, only other thing would be a new exhaust if you still have a single exhaust or if you have duals already you are probably going to need new midpipes or your current exhaust bent to meet the header collectors.

Some will come with the bungs already there...

Get a set of G-Body headers, they will tuck up under the truck alot better.

I only run doug's or doug thorley's on a truck. They are costly but you never have any problems , like the cheap headmans and hookers.

Doug thorley's are my number one , (way thicker material).

The last set I bought were coated Hedman Elite's, they are much thicker material than the regular Hedmans.

As far as the headrers go, just plug the bungs with 1/4 brass plugs...as seen in my pic.

For the pump, gut it and let it free-spin - use a delete pulley or toss it and use shorter belt.

where can you get a delete pulley? I am thinking about getting headers with out the air injection plugs and getting rid of the smog system completely
