Has anyone have experience using a bed lift?

Another guy here that made one out of wood except I made it grab the rails so they would not bend or slip and had a pulling point in the center.

If you go to the local lumber year, I use Home Depot, they usually have a "cull" lumber section of twisted and damaged boards that contractors would not use. These are usually discounted up to 80% from the normal sell price and work fine for what I was using them for.

I bought a bed lift from a body shop supply, but the brand escapes me at the moment. By the time you buy pizza and beer for three buddies twice, you'd have paid for the tool. Just saying. I found it a worthwhile investment as a one man show with aspirations lol.

Yes, I have used 3 people from the neighborhood before and that worked ok but it's always a hassle trying to round up a few people.
Thinking about using a cheap HF chain hoist and a couple of trees. Old school.

I made exactly what JEGS is selling. I didn’t know you could buy them. Like someone else mentioned there is a problem with the height on your hoist. To fix this issue, I removed my wheels and set the truck on jackstands as low as they go. I have restored 3 different trucks and used this lift for all of them.

I've used a few bed lifts when I worked in shops. They work great, but you have to make sure you engine hoist will raise it high enough to clear everything. But kinda pricey for the amount of time your going to use it.
I used a couple of scrap 2x6 boards and a chain, but my engine hoist decided to blow a cylinder seal and crap out on me.
I ended up using my tractor with forks to do the job....I still haven't fix my hoist.

If any of y’all contemplating lifting it yourself vs the buddy system, have a garage, 4 lag screw eye bolts if the ceiling is finished, to go with 4 ratchet straps, even the cheap ones, will pick a bed up.
Then build a cart so you don’t have trouble moving it around.
$30 worth of Scamazon heavy duty casters and scrap lumber and 2 beers.

Are filler necks in the way if you have dual tanks? I have the screws out but haven't lifted yet. Looks like it can go up a little then has to slide backwards...

Yes. You have to manipulate them while you are lifting or setting the box.

Has anyone come up with a back yard method of pulling the front clip with a cherry picker?

Didn't realize it had a rubber section to it. It's off and slide back enough to work.
