Hey all wondering if I can install a mini spool in a Gov Lock rear end
Its for a gm 12 bolt truck. I heard a lot that these Gov Locks are prone to failing and I intend to street race with it and would like to replace the internals with a locker to try and prevent failure. is this possible? Will any mini spool for a 12 bolt open carrier work with the gov lock.

Dude...

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It's a gov-loc in a 12 bolt. It'll be broken soon enough. All joking aside, I believe he'll need to use an open carrier for the mini spool. And it that point, it'd probably be cheaper to install a regular spool, unless you want to be able to put the spiders back in for future use.

Nope, you'll have to swap to an open carrier. By the time you buy a new open carrier and then the lunchbox locker, then you may as well just buy a Detroit Locker carrier and be done once in for all and not have any 300hp or 35in tire restrictions.
