It's actually painted that color, not raw aluminum, at least the one I had was painted. It was used on the engine in Mean Green so it had some "stuff" on it. When I cleaned off the stuff, it took away the silver paint. So I cleaned it more to get rid of as much silver as I could then painted it chevy orange. I agree, it looks better orange. Will do. I don’t know if the new ARP bolts will be long enough for that one so I’ll find one long enough.
Degreased and pressure washed around the engine bay. And behind the engine. Couple coats of satin black down yonder and Chevy orange on the block. If you really want stuff to last, it needs to be real paint with hardener and clear. That orange spray paint just gets gooey overtime.
I’m honestly not liking the look of the raw aluminum intake. I kind of want to paint it orange. I know, I said the orange gets dirty over time but I’m really hoping to fix the oil leaks lol
Thoughts?
Yes I assumed it was painted silver to get a uniform look. Parts are starting to come in. By this evening, everything should be in to put it all back together. When I did mine, thought I'd got photos of the "silver" but I didn't...
I don't know what the thread size and pitch is for those, but I use teflon tape.I need to plug a few holes on my new intake and I don’t want to use the old junkie ones. The coolant temperature cinder from my brother’s TBI truck threads in, is this 3/8s NPT? Or is it some sort of fine thread?
Also, what would you use to put the stainless fitting into this aluminum intake? Pipe tape, anti-seize, or some sort of liquid thread? Working with stainless fasteners in the refineries back in the day, I am all too aware of corrosion problems.
That's for vortec heads but the pipe threads should be the same as well as the others. You must be registered for see images attach
