Not with that attitude...lol..

Kidding aside, I do agree, it's not a gear banging tranny, it's a workhorse tranny, but it can be shifted smoothly and semi-quickly, especially with a decent clutch setup and adjustment.
AND Practice ;)

I guess Ill have to take a video of me speed shifting the column.....it literally doesnt matter how fast you can shift it, ITS TOO SLOW

I dont know how else to say it. Literally, when you let off the clutch and press the gas, you've maybe got 15' and youre pushing the clutch in for second, and right after that, third. The whole thing happens before you've hit 25 mph. In other words, When you take off, minivans pass you while you're having to shift into second. I need either more travel between shifts or an automatic (I'm definitely going automatic probably just the ol 700r. I'm not scared of a driveshaft alteration

Call me crazy, but I don’t think I have an oil leak from the front valley of the intake manifold. If it’s leaking, it would have to be from that left side that is wet. That’s the side. It seems to be coming down the timing chain cover, and going everywhere on the crossmember.

Could it be coming from the top of this cheesy timing chain cover on high RPM? Find out on the next episode of Dragon Ball Z. Or at least after I put this intake all back together and it still leaks lol

I was going to put this thing all back together tonight, but I decided to do it right and order some more stuff from Summit. ARP stainless intake manifold bolts, same for the water neck. New water neck coming, two new stainless heater hose fittings

Should I make a hardline fuel line from the pump to the carburetor or just keep the rubber I have? Dammit, I meant to buy a carb spacer. Back to Summit. Kids aren’t getting a Christmas this year.

BTW, the high dollar fel pro valve cover gaskets seem to have done the trick. They arent wet.

You should be able to wind 2nd gear to at least 40, unless you somehow have 5.14 rear gears. Doubt you do, 5.14 came in the heavy duty axles.

I'm gonna get a heavier duty one for sure. Gonna suck to replace but at least I'll be able to paint the water pump and dampener like I didn't do before

You know I was thinking, I drove a 350 in my squares for years and never worried about oil leaks on my nice driveway. Same with the 305 in the blue square. All the more why this engine leaking so bad is frustrating.

I hear ya, and it shouldn't leak, especially when you're taking extra steps to make sure it's sealed

You need to check your axle ratio. It either came with 3.07, 3.73, or 4.10.

Whats the trick to checking it by rotating the wheels and driveshaft again? Been too long.

Most likely you have 4.11. The BW has great 1st and 2nd gears, very close to the sm420's 2nd and 3rd. If you're winding out in 2nd at 25mph, you have to have 4.11, but even then you should be able to shift into 3rd at 30 to 40.

This shows the Saginaw and Borg Warner

Pop the cover, see if there's numbers stamped on the ring gear. If no numbers count the teeth.

It can be done without popping the cover, but I've never used that method, so I can't say how.
