Fiberglass for a dash???

I was and still am looking for a NOS dash, but I haven't got any help on that an I need to figure something out quick cause im anxious to get the truck together. Someone said to cover the old dash in a fleece blanket and then fiberglass it. I was wondering the details on this. What does it do to the texture of the dash? Does the color hold on the fiberglass or doe it chip and scratch? Will the trim still fit? Etc. Thanks

Seems like it would turn out nice but be a whole lot of work. It would need painted in the end too. If I were you I would get one of those plastic dash covers from LMC or somewhere. Add a few spots of Automotive Goop on the underside here & there to glue it down and be done with it. The fit aint perfect by any means but it will look a lot better than a dash cracked all to hell, and take 1/100th the amount of time compared to the fiberglass technique. Maybe you could find another dash after you put the plastic cover on if you're not happy with the fit & finish and take your time with it re-covering it. Somewhere here a guy had a thread where he was re-covering his dash himself, with new foam and vinyl.

Thanks, if anyone has a picture of one of those covers installed that would be great. I would like to see how they fit before I spend more money!

The resin can be impregnated with his color of choice.

It just slips over your old dash pad. If the cracks in your dash are like the grand canyon though you might have to take a scaper to them to get these to lay down good.

88-91 Blazers, burbs and 1-tons...in other words, SQUARES lol. At the top it says 81-91.

I know those are squares!! I was just bringing to attention it seems to be for the late model blazer,burb,1-ton squares
