LOL, i have a set of 4.11's i pulled off a carrier, my dad busted off a bolt, and i stripped 3 out. Btw, this was all by hand.

And on the headers, it looks like they SHOULD work, but only time will tell.

THE TIME HAS COME, DUN DUN DUN. To start peicing together the top end.

Taking cam recamendations:
Have to pull some vacume(brakes)
Nice Choppy idle, but i have to watch the overlap for fuel economy.
Around .460 lift MAX (Vortecs)
Hydrolic flat tappet.
Around 1500-6500 range.

Car specs:
80's 350 stock bottom end(70kish miles)
3.42 gears
Th350(shift kit, i think its the older B&M competition)
Im looking at around 18-22 total stall
Looking at running a Holley 640 Doublepump, mech. secondaries.
295/50-15 rear tires(roughly 26" tall)
And i have headers.

Originally I was looking at the old L79 cam, i liek the sound and everything, but i would also be open to opinions.

imo a comp 268h, it's got some bump and choppy idle but it's only 218 dur. at .50 and then 454 lift, so should work good, also works with power brakes and vac. mod. just fine, we run it in our 84 and I had it in my monte ss.

I also hear the magnum 272? or whichever is between the 268 and the 280, says it works with power brakes.

I got to looking at the lunati 60103 Cam. Ill cut the guides down to clear for it, but once again my parts money was depleted for other things.

Goal is befor i graduate....... So many other things also going on atm, its almoast time for snowball(winter formal) at school, and i have to go since its my last year, so there goes $$$$ for a tux and etc.....

But the plan is to tear up town befor i graduate XD. And also have the most BA car in the parkinglot, even the thats not hard to do with all the eco-green tin cans people call cars nowadays. lol hell, my trucks probly the most BA vehicle atm. But the monte is still on the burner. Just waiting on $$$$. I even tried talkign dad into pulling the engine in the truck and sticking that in the monte with a set of 906/062 vortecs. Its already 10:1 with 76.26cc 441 heads, imagine it with 64cc Vortec heads. LOL.

They're legal until you get a ticket for em :burnout:

Around here as long as you have a muffler, you're legal. You can, however, get a ticket for being too loud no matter what muffler you have.

Mother of GAWD.........today isnt fun.
Got put together yesterday, sealed the cover, painted it.

Well today i filled it full of gear lube. After i got that done i put the driveshaft up in plane and was tightening it up when.......... the pinion had play and was moving up and down.....****. So i pulled the front all apart and compared yolks, they were the same. So i put it back together and tried it again, still had play. Pulled it apart AGAIN, pulled the seal off and pulled the bearing out, then pulled the crush sleeve, the sleeve hadnt ever compressed, so i put in the crush sleeve that came on this pinion, put the bearing on, tapped the yolk on to set the bearing in, tapped the yolk out, put the seal in, then put the yolk on for the last time, tightened it up. I started thingking to my self, YAYAYAYAY no play. Guess what. NO BACKLASH EITHER, ****. so now i have to pull the carrier out and play with shims again.............

Oh boy is this fun.......

And that rear cover was a bitch to get back off, it was sealed GOOD.
The crush sleve takes about 250 to 300 ft. lbs. of torque to crush. After it is crushed, there should be a certain amount of torque (20 in/lbs for new bearings and a little less for used bearings) it takes to turn the yoke with just the pinion shaft installed.
