I have been using a Plug & Chug from Cupholders Plus for over 5 years and have no issues with it. Holds 2 medium Sonic drinks firmly in place. Not a "cheap" one either, but it sure beats holding one between your legs and jabbing the straw thru the cup. Been there, done that. That is what made me buy this. A solid fit in the ashtray and not to bad looking either.

Other companies sell this as well. This is just the one I decided to go with. Now I'm kicking around the idea of ordering one of their consoles.

Hi all: been a long time since I last visited the forums, but now that I've re-purchased a "new to me" 1984 C20 - I'm reading every thread to get caught up.

When I owned my 1977 K20 - I too had the same problem, no cup holder, SM465, Bench seat.

I found the answer in Marine (boat) supply web sites: (or just google marine gimbaled drink holder)
I bought two for $8 each. I'll link to one and hope my pic post works:
Nice thing is they are two axis rotation....

I've got one of their larger ones designed to set up on the seat like a console. Nice unit, well built. Kinda pricey, but spot on color match for the truck it's in.

My cup holder sits beside me :)

But really. What's the point of a cup holder when the truck rides like a jack hammer? It just means there is more cleaning to do with a cup holder. I want to drink my beverage not wash my interior with it!

Exactly. Although this type of cup holder is a serious option. It requires a lot of thought as it comes in various colors, shapes and sizes. It usually requires a lot of searching to find the right one that fits you and the truck.
It is also the most expensive of all the cup holders shown so far.:)

I use a new roll of duct tape. Soda can fits in the center pretty nice. And I have duct tape for Chevy problems.

Frustrated with the lack of options for cupholders and consoles...I built my own today out of wood. I covered the new console/cuphold with fabric to match my trucks new interior. The console sits on the transmission hump instead of the bench seat. It holds four drinks, the upper two are for larger gut buster drinks (44 oz) and the lower front two fit cans. The cosole was also built to accomodate a place to hold my cell phone in transit.
