This is a Gov Lock, note the carrier body is smooth and cone shaped plus you can see 2 “windows” that show clutch plate retainers.

Hmm, now I’m back to not knowing what my 14sf has. So the 10.5 and 9.5 g80 gov locs really look that much different, or do I have something else?

Your pic is a Gov Lock, the 2 axles are just that different.

1981 g80 gov loc 14 b ff dually. I serviced the diff last summer and this is what it looked like. Only pics I have. Look similar to op.

1981 g80 gov loc 14 b ff dually. I serviced the diff last summer and this is what it looked like. Only pics I have. Look similar to op.

The only thing similar is the ring gear. Take a min to truly look at the diff body - your gov lock body is cone shaped with 2 holes out by the bearing for the clutch retainer clips while the OP’s open carrier pic shows a straight (almost tubular) body with reinforcing ribs and no holes by the bearing.

Yeah I see it. The OPs just looks less built up. I see the cone shaped difference now.
