Cab corner trim

How come some 81-87 silverados have an aluminized stainless band around the cab and some don't? Was it an option? Was not installed on 2 tone trucks?

It was included with the upper trim level trucks. They had the Chevy/GMC badge unless it was a camper special optioned truck, then it had a teepee emblem. I believe the trim band was indeed included on trucks that had the optional two-toned roof.

My brother just bought an all original, numbers matching, fully loaded 86 Silverado with 2 tone paint. It does not have the cab corner trim on it.
I have another friend with a fully loaded 83 2 toned silverado that did not have it installed from factory?

My truck doesn't have the band either. I looked into it and it was something about the specific trim option, mine had two tone with the band on the side. I'm not near my info right now but I'll look later.

Mine was a two tone and it came with the band.

I just looked it up, the ZY5 exterior décor package deleted the cab molding.

Looks like ZY2 and ZY4 include the molding.

ZY9 Big Dooley included it except if they were Silverado/Sierra Classic which deleted it.

For all years? My '79 dually is a Sierra Classic and it has the cab band. The truck was solid color originally too.

My info came from the 1986 GM information packet from the GM Heritage website. It might be different for other years.
