Brake lines with drop? Help!!

Got the 79 front lowered, all I lack is connecting the brake lines.

Bought new rubber brake lines from NAPA and they connect fine to the caliper, but when the hose comes up, it bends hard and stays firmly right against the upper ball joint castle nut. This will rub a hole in it and I dont want to go through the hassle of new brake lines and the damn through frame design again :lazer:

Whats the solution?

You have to carefully bend the hard portion of the line so it will clear the castle nut.

The rubber is hitting just a 1/2" or so off the hard line.

How do you bend the hard line?

You can do it by hand while its bolted to the caliper.

Thanks for all the help John.

Hopefully I can get the rear flipped tomorrow and post some pics., Im curious what others will think about our wheel choice.

Any tips or tricks on flipping the rear? Ive watched plenty of you tube but that doesnt always go as planned.

I had the same issue with my new front brake lines as well...x2 on carefully bending them out 8f the way. As far as flipping the back axle...I opted to unbolt the rear shackles from the frame mounts. By removing the rear shackles, and with the frame of the truck securely supported on jack stands, you should have enough room to position the rear axle on top of the springs. Taking the wheels/tires off the rear axle also must be done.

Some people opt to remove the front of the leaf packs from the frame mounts, but since I also installed drop shackles, this made more sense.
