Body weights, for mockup

I've got to measure for my drivelines and only have a rolling chassis, no body. I could guestimate bed, loaded cab, front clip with rad, engine components, fluids etc.....but I'm sure some have been through this already and share their research. I've got the naked block, trans and transfer sitting in the chassis, but that's it. I'm guessing 500lbs over the front axle, 500 on the rear, and 1000 in between to simulate the cab. It's a standard cab '73 longbed with ac, bbc, and 3 tanks.

My bare (no doors, interior, etc) 79 cab weighs right at 300lbs. I’m not sure how useful that number would be, as I imagine you’d want fully dressed cab weight.

Being it’s a C20 it’s gonna sit about the same naked as fully assembled.
Unless you got it on really light duty leaf springs then you may get some additional sag I suppose.

He's putting together a K20. But I agree, a few hundred more pounds installed, it's going to sit about the same as it is now.

Agree with you all......I sat on each corner and it may have moved 1/4 inch, being 200lbs. Not worth even considering.

While it won't sit down a bunch, it will probably sit down more than you're thinking it will. Will it affect driveline lengths? Possibly. Curb weight, as I understand it, is the vehicle with everything installed but no load. If you measure alignment with the vehicle in curb weight, wouldn't that also apply to measuring driveline lengths?

Yes, driveline angles and length should be measured at curb weight.

I'd think the drive angles would be one of the last things I'd be setting up....
