For those familiar with the vortec engines. Picked up a stock 97 5.7 vortec, and got it dressed up ready to swap in my truck. Before I drop it in, i was thinking about putting in a different cam, for a mild increase in performance. What would be a good all around cam to up the power while keeping the low end torque? I obviously want an increase in peak horsepower, but to maintain good torque. It has to atleast have as much low end torque as the current 73 350 (LS9 i believe).

Going on an 86 k10 with 700r4, 3.42 rear, and 33 inch tires. I do not do any significant towing to speak of.

The cam that comes in the ram jet 350 would be a good grind. Can't recall the specs off hand but mild enough for a nice truck engine. Same cam they use in the ht383 truck engine. Want something a little hotter the zz4 camshaft would work pretty good.
