I've tried everything I can think of to access the blind screw under the blower motor area (aside from removing the fender). My array of wrench extensions and swivel combinations just aren't doing it. Can't even see the screw. Any help would be appreciated. 75 k10.

A solution! I found where the screw came thru firewall (inside the air inlet area), took some vice grips, grabbed the threads and rotated the screw out. Limited and awkward space made it annoying but not too bad. I almost went crazy on this one. With all the cussing, my dogs ran and hid, thinking they were in trouble again. :). I am surprised I couldn't find anyone online who had the same issue. Found a few guy that had no problems since their entire front end had been removed.

Thanks. Didn't want to mess with the fender since I assumed that would be a big job.

Not sure if they're the same after the redesign, but on my '85 the screws that secure the heater core box from inside the cab have a nut on the threads that stick through into the engine compartment that hold the A/C box on.

I don't know if you could unscrew it from the inside without loosening the nut, but that is where they're located on an '85.

A long 1/4" wobble extension and one of the universal joint type with a wrap of electric tape to keep it from flopping around on the socket end worked on mine

⅛" thickness o-rings help with taming those u-joint wobbles. Take it with you to the hardware store o-ring bin and fit it up. Another excuse to spend a dollar.
