Well, this is the 4th square body i owned. My first square body and first vehicle was a 86 Scottsdale(ratltle canned black) with a 79 350(170 hp roughly)/turbo 400 that i bought for $300. I swear to this day, that the motor ran on voodoo. I drove it on 7 cylinders one time and never noticed any difference. I beat that truck to hell and it never left me stranded, its the one vehicle i regret selling. I also owned a 78 4x4 blazer and c10 stepside, they were basically a lawn ornaments.

My current square body is a 85 K10 Burban Silverado. I picked it up for a $1000. The guy i bought it from had TBI installed in it along with a rebuilt 350 with a small cam. I burned the 3/4 band out of the transmission on the way home when i bought it. The guy said it sat for about 6 months before i bought it.

I have a vortec 350 I'm building for it. Full roller motor. I'm using summit vortec heads, Gm performance cam part #14097395, and 1.6 roller rockers. With the cam I should get some nice low end torque. I'm keeping the TBI on it and upgrading to a 7427 pcm which is used in 94-95 gm trucks so I can tune it. Because the 7427 pcm's run a lot smoother than the ecm's.

For the interior I'm putting in gray bucket and second row seats out of a late model burban and the center console.

It's getting new front and rear leaf spring with airflifter airbags in the back to help with towing my boat and rear end sag. I bought a CUCV brush guard, bumper, and tow points that I picked up for $250 that I'm putting on.

I'm in the military and am currently overseas, so right now I'm ordering parts for it. A buddy of mine is going through the TBI and working all the kinks out of it, because whoever wired it wasn't really experienced and he's also getting the tranny rebuilt. I joined the forums to check out what other people's doing with their square bodies and hopefully pick up a few ideas along the way.

These are the pictures I got before I went and bought it and unfornately the only ones I have.

Thanks everyone, always wanted a square body Burban and snagged this one up for a decent price. Here are some better pictures, with the cucv bumber and tow points installed. Buddy is still waiting on the brush guard to show up. And yes that is the factory radio, that surprisingly still works.

You'll need to pull that trans. There isn't a 3/4 band. It's a clutch pack. You do have a 2/4 band which is also a common issue, but the 3/4 clutch pack is much more common to burn up. I'd have it replaced with either Raybestos Z pack, or Alto Commercial Clutch pack.

I have almost the same truck. Just have barn doors in the back. This last year I was a bit rough on it and the roof and hood are starting to lose the gray paint. Going to bed liner the roof and hood soon.
Nice rig that will let you go most places a CUCV can.....the long wheelbase being the only real problem at times. (At least where I go.) Good luck on that rig.
