I have a 86 gmc Sierra and a 80 chevy Scottsdale. I want to put the 80 clip on the front of my 86. Just wondering what all needs to be done for me to do it

take the parts off use the body mounts to match the year of the frame. then put the parts back on

pretty easy swap going to the older clip

ya core support both fenders and hood

you will need to remove the cowl panel from the newer truck the older truck hood covers that area

basically all the sheet metal in front of the doors needs changed

they bolt on the inside of the fender on the 80 and older trucks

they should stay on the fender when you swap it

oh ya the frame horn where the bumper bolts on is different

I have just cut the frame horns off in front of the core support mount and swapped them just weld them back on.

not sure about any other ways to swap bumpers

I thought on 80 and older the hinges recessed into the cowling area when the hood is closed ?

that's 81 up

if he was putting a 81 up clip on a 80 older truck he would need to cut a hole for the hinges.

but putting the older clip on a newer cab no need to cut for clearance

yeah that is an easy swap I would just pull the 80 clip as 1 piece and bolt it on the 86

Hope you don't care about windshield wipers because the older Hood will hit the wipers on the newer cab so your going to have to modify the Hood or go without wipers either way it kinda sucks
