HI everybody,
I am looking at buying a 77 K10 and was wondering if you could tell me everything to pay attention to when looking at it. The asking price is $2000 and it comes with a set of tires (30%) and some decent winters not on rims. its a 350 on propane about 100000km on the rebuild. auto trans. its lifted but i dont know how much. the ignition was "removed" because the key broke in the bush.

33's fit stock, 35's with a 4 inch or so lift.

check the frame for cracks, bigges thing, and rust.

frames crack at the steering box, the shock mounts etc.

hard to find decent 70 models or even these 73-87's cheap. I saw 3500 or 3k is good, but without seeing it in person, not sure.

old style pre 73 trucks may not fit 33's or 35's like the 73-87 trucks can, lift or no lift etc.

I know my 88 gmt400 won't fit tires quite as nice as the squarebody trucks it seems.

so cracks on the frame and rust are the biggest things? is there anything mechanical to check?

just normal stuff, leaks, etc.

one thing may bother you is that most of the older trucks had a 203 transfer case which means it's full time 4x4 all the time, or constantly spinning everything basically.

They can be converted to part time which is a kit you can buy and a good way to tell if the kit is installed or if it DOES NOT have a full time or 203 all together, would be to look for lock in lock out hubs up front. if it has lock in hubs that you manually lock in and out then it's not full time. or at least should not be LOL.

The np203 didn't get used until '73. I think a '70 would have the np205 or some variant of a Rockwell.

aahh crap I was thinking we were taliing about a 77.

so nevermind pretty much either statment I made.

ok now I'm lost.

my comments apply to 73-87's not older.

On those pics I can tell you 2 things right off that's wrong, one that visor is screwed up or somebody moounted it too low/pointing downward, they don't mount like that.

2nd that's an 81-87 front bumper and doesn't line up right. I'd change it.

It could also mean somebody changed the frame to a newer one, or it could just be somebody made it fit(bumper only).

It does seem to have lock in/out hubs so that's good. I like it.

no way to know without having the rpo list, and that's most likely long gone or unable to read it.

My biggest fear with those visors is that someone mounted it wrong and then it'll let water leak in. That equals rusted out roof, a pillars, floors, rockers, etc...

Nice lookin truck otherwise.
