73-80 vs 81-87 Seat Cover Question

Does anyone know if a seat cover made for a 73-80 bench seat will work on a 81-87 seat frame?

The vinyl covered seat in my 83 GMC project has the stitching that matches the 73-80 style, but the hinge covers are 81-87. I'm guessing it's original but not sure. I prefer the stitching style from the 73-80, and want to use the 73-80 vinyl seat cover from LMC truck but don't want to order if for some reason it wouldn't fit on the newer seat.

The 80s bench seats get wider at the front on the sides, whereas the 70s are the same width.

Might work if you trimmed the foam, not sure if the frame is different?

Thanks for pointing that out. I looked at my seat and it clearly has the wider sides like the 81-87 style, so probably best to go with the 81-87 seat cover.

Seat bottom frame is different.
Later also has belt provisions through it.

Don't buy from LMC. Order through Raybuck. Cheaper and get choice of 20 different patterns, colors, styles. Same manufacturer as LMC.

While researching upholstery and seating upgrades I also stumbled across some great honda talon accessories that had some useful seat cover fitment guides worth checking out. I am guessing it is original but not sure. I prefer the stitching style from the 73-80 and want to use the 73-80 vinyl seat cover from LMC truck but don't want to order if for some reason it wouldn't fit on the newer seat.

Since your 83 already has the 73-80 style stitching it sounds like the swap may have already been done at some point. Call LMC Truck directly before ordering as their customer service team knows these cross generation fitment questions inside and out and will give you a straight answer!
