I have a 87 Chevy suburban v10, and it has a newer 700R4 tranny. I am wondering if it is normal for anybody else to be driving at any speed even highway and when you take your foot off the throttle, it automatically downshifts. And I know the TV cable is adjusted correctly. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

How do you know the cable is adjusted correctly?

I pulled the transmission pan and adjusted the cable until until the little arm that touches the valve. Plunger is just touching it, and when I go wide open throttle, it pushes the plunger completely in.

Did you verify your adjustment via line pressure testing?

OK, will do. It might be a couple days. I really appreciate your help.
You're welcome...if you're readings are within the ranges they should be then gov is the next thing id look at followed by valve body but dont mess with anything else until we see your line pressure readings...
