When did Chevy start putting 4x4 on the beds of their trucks. Were there ever any emblems on the exterior of the 73-87 Squares to signify that they were 4wd aside from the optional 4x4 rally center caps?

Notice the "4x4" graphic on the upper part of the bed. The best part is that this truck is still a DD.

I assume it is dealer or factory because the 4x4 is the same color as the graphics that run down the truck.

I can remember seeing those graphics on 89's other models from the early 90's. I see people in town with wrong graphics all the time like toyotas with ford 4x4 vinyl, camo Z71 that are signifigantly too small or placed in the wrong spot. I just want to make sure that if I do it, its correct to the model. Althought I do really like this style too.

There were no factory decals until the newer bodystyle. It's obvious if a square is 4x4 because of the stance, but the newer trucks were low to the ground even if they were 4x4, so that might be a reason the decals came into play. Just a guess though.

x2 Newer bodystyle being 1988.

When I bought my '05, one of the first things I did was take off the Z71 decals from the bed. Half of the guys at the shop I work at took theirs off also.
