On the rearend deal.
If you don't want to rebuild the one that is in it, there are options.

For my Bel Air I have sourced a 8.8 out of a Ford Explorer.
They basically use all the same components as a Chevy 12 bolt.
But it also comes with a limited slip and disc brakes.

When I have mine rebuilt, I will have the hubs drilled for the chevy pattern.

just picking a cam out and sticking it in an engine is not the way to do it. u need to flow your heads as was stated before. if your heads only flow enough for a 450 lift then a bigger cam is not the way to go, good luck.

I'm pretty confident in Comp cams Tech dept. I have used 3 or 4 of their cams with their help and all have turned out really well!! Also this is NOT a race engine and I've done a few of these in my years with a fair amount of success, so I'm good, but thanks for the thoughts, Butch!!

Yea, I know the fored 9 inch is a strong unit, BUT I prefer to keep my Chevy ALL Chevy and I'll deal with the failure, IF it happens. On a side note, I was in your neck of the woods today. Drove to Portland this am got some parts from Ralph Roberts in Vancouver for the Nomad and made it home by 8:30pm!! About an 800 mile round trip in 13 hours, counting potty breaks and leg stetches!

God willing I should be getting lunati 10110 701 k Cam Kit. Spoke to Tech and they said no problem with my 8.5:1 402. The 10110700k would probably be slightly more streetable but what fun is that!!!

I feel ya on the Chevy all Chevy stuff.
But I am a baller on a budget, so my car will be just fine with that.

Glad you made it out here and back in Cannonball Run fashion.
Those day trips can be fun.
Especially when we are all cooped up...
