350 to 400 swap... Worth it?

Show us that beautiful Chevelle paint job, please.
Just make sure that you have all the right balancing components on that 400 and swap it out. It should be alot more fun.
Get some good blankets or fender covers and just take your time and be careful. If you scratch it a little, touch it up.

I'll post a pic or two when i get a chance, I'll scrounge up a bunch of fender covers, treat it like a game of operation, and the swap should go smoothly

Ah yes the debate, my 355 circle track motor (9.5:1) in a K20, sounds awesome, mean, 454 8:1 compression [email protected] cam, headers, intake, (350 the same) sound tame, spanks that 355. Used both for towing, 355 higher rpm shifts, 454, shift whenever, always plenty of torque. Love the 355, love the 400, like the 454 more. Note: bought the 454 with a 400 TH out of a motorhone, rebuilt, (rings hone bearings cam) for 1500.00 bucks. I build motors in a shop locally this one checked out.

In My Opinion,
Just depends what you want.
I'm a big block man from way back.
I've got a big block 396-375 horsepower 69 Camaro.
Also a 396 67 Impala.
Two 454 square bodies, a K30 and a C20.
And a variety of small block 350 square bodies, and 350/327 muscle cars.
If you want brute torque, doing heavy towing, don't care about fuel economy, can't beat a big block Chevy.
If you want ease of maintenance, reliability and better fuel economy go with a small block, it's a great engine.

I think 383 or a 400 is a good compromise where you have the lower engine weight and better reliability and yet you still have a respectable amount of torque and horsepower.

Of course if you want the ultimate go with an LS swap.
