That's the route I would go. Most headers should be fine, but yeah, some will cause troubles there.

Then just tap the ruined hole for a pipe plug.

I installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge on mine and wrapped the plastic line in small wire loom plastic to protect it from heat, anyone else try this?

maybe for trucks most headers would be ok but for me the monte carlo I had did not work, maybe an adapter to move it somewhere like a 45 or 90 degree, but the flowtechs were right on it. Melted a hole in the plastic that surrounds the terminals and started dumping oil on the header.

yes, If I have a problem with it in the location, I'll use some brass fittings and move it to a safe place. I have also seen oil pressure guages that use metal tubiting instead of the plastic. So as long I know there is a tap there, I'll be good.
