Im not certain but my Burb has a folding armrest on both side of bucket seat, that looks like armrest bracket.

EDIT: Never-mind I just saw a picture of my Burbs armrest, its sits much higher on the seat.

i agree the "hooks" point down and forward and when original probably swung better than they do now, the inertia would be correct.
appreciate all the input and ideas!

I wonder if there's a corresponding notch or something in the seatbelt mechanism down there.

I've never inspected the reg cab seats under the covers to know what goes on in the pivot area. I will inspect in the daylight now, lol.

Ppretty sure all 73-79 folding bench seats have that. It's on the 3-4 benches I have. I don't know about the 80+ but I can check tomorrow.

I only know that is what it is because I also did a reupholster of my seat and had the same mechanism on my 85 Silverado K10 and I wanted to know what the hell it was that I was looking at. I kept at it until I figured out the mechanism and the application and when I figured out it was inertia activated, it all made sense what the latch did.

I recovered my seat recently on my 84 K10 and I struggled with that piece as well. I know that it does have a function but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Here is a picture of it before I removed it.
