Needs some TLC, but would make a cool Square Body Wrecker.

A traffic police unit's dream stop. I see at least 7 ticketable offences. @HotRodPC, what say you?

That's a Holmes 440 with an aftermarket wheel lift. A few years ago I might have considered buying it. Drove a similar truck for years, good units.

Not one I'd be interested in operating. Lots of offenses for certain. It would take a lot to get that one roadworthy IMO. I'd say you could probably buy a used more modern hydraulics unit for much cheaper than putting that thing back together.

So if I describe a rig that I used to operate, could you tow guys maybe tell me what model bed it was? Because I can't remember.

It was on a '78 K30 chassis that my boss had put together in the mid 90's with used stuff that he aquired. I'd guess the bed was made in the 80's? If it had a wheel lift originally, it didn't any longer when I used it. But it had twin cables and a telescoping boom as well. There were control levers on both sides. The rear of the bed was similar in appearance to the one posted above.

Does that narrow it down at all? One other detail I remember, the bed was originally on a rig for Maine's towing. If anyone local to the Western OH area or Eastern IN is familiar with that company, maybe they know what they ran beck then.

Back in the 80's, I had to have a couple of my squares rescued off-grid and hauled to town behind a single axle K30 with just a simple A frame on the back. Lol. Times have changed!
