Can I still use the egr valve if the thermal vacuum valve is bad (I broke it)?

I would guess that without the thermal valve to tell it that it is warm enough to open it will just sit there , but I may be all wrong.

Free bump, though, and I am curious as to the correct answer.

Yes, but operation of the valve before the engine is fully warmed up may cause stumbling or hesitation.

Depending on which ported vacuum switch you broke, they aren't too expensive to replace. Napa carries them also, but cost more.
