700R4 TV cable - weird adjuster?

Another sure fire way to make sure the cable's geometry and adjustment is correct is to drop the transmission pan. Look at the plunger and the lever that pushed the plunger. At idle the lever that engages the plunger should be touching the plunger but not engaging it or have any space between...

    Jegs or Summit

I was a Summit customer forever, however, like most companies they have gone down hill in my opinion. I have been purchasing from Jegs for the past couple of years and have been very happy with their service.

700R4 no forward gears that fixed itself ???

Thank you for the reply Nick. I certainly did not want to hear "failure" from someone with your experience, lol. So if its going to break, it should do it soon? Wife and I have a few day trips planned. We just got back from a 1500M round trip to Tennessee, sure glad it did not break there :)

700R4 no forward gears that fixed itself ???

Hello, 700r4 in a 1984 K5. I replaced the transmission, converter and cooler 3000 miles ago. I purchased them from reputable companys. I have not had any issues till last week. I went to do a quick errand. Started it up but it had no forward gear. I put it in reverse and it backed up. Put it...

Dakota Digital HDX Install Write Up

Awesome write up! thanks for sharing. Maybe not related but how is your oil pressure? Is there much of a difference between the original distributor sensor location vs the Oil filter location?

    PerformaBuilt transmissions

Well and update. I ended up purchasing a 700r4 from Performabuilt and got a lock up converter from Protorque instead for the FTI that they sell. So far its perfect. These guys are a small shop and really listened to what I wanted and they delivered. I highly recommend looking at their you tube...

    Blue Print or GM Performance

I vote anything but GM Performance (making the assumption GM and Chevrolet Performance are the same company). Mine has not blown up yet ..... here is a post that I made a while back https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/new-chevrolet-performance-350-issue.37675/ Bottom line it is impossible to...

    4L60e vs 700r4

I totally understand the TV cable making you nervous. We don't seem to have a good shop in my area either. I am going to have my 700r4 rebuilt just because its old and we do long road trips. ANYWAY I spoke with performabuilt transmissions and he said get the proper carburetor to TV cable...

    Cracked block

This is old news, just thought Id share. I pulled this running 350 engine out of my k10 when I installed a 383 in it. I ran this engine for 3+ years with zero issues. The plan was to rebuild this block for my K5, well, until I pulled the intake and saw this.... LOL

Thanks for the reply, I guess I thought this thing should be testing better after 6000 miles and 6 oil changes. Patience, not my strong point :)

    new Chevrolet Performance 350 issue

I like to use oil samples to give me an idea of what is going on inside engines. September 2021 I installed a Chevy Performance 350 crate engine in my 84 Blazer. This is a base model (308hp) using all new components (block crank heads etc). We use the blazer for weekend trips etc. No racing or...

    Which GM crate motor?

I am going to put up a separate post on this as soon as I get my last oil sample results back and make a decision on what to do next. I purchased a chevy performance 350 from Summit in 2021. It has had high lead, iron and tin in the oil samples since it was new. I tried calling summit once a...

    Steering Improvement Suggestions

Agreed to adding the bolt on steering box brace, if your frame is not cracked. If it is weld the plate that ORD sells. I cant say for sure that i noticed difference but peace of mind knowing it should be helping. One more thing to check. Have someone turn the steering wheel left and right to...

automatic transmission column selector/lever not locking into park

I cannot move/rotate the piece that the rod attaches to the column any farther up. The picture shows it as far up as I can move it with the rod disconnected from the transmission. it acts like it either is not going up far enough OR what ever should lock it in park is broke? yes Yes Yes, with...

automatic transmission column selector/lever not locking into park

I did loosen the rod adjustment at the transmission so the rod is not interfearing. That is what makes me think the problem is in the column, maybe where the arrow in the pictire is pointing? It looks to my unexperienced eye that the lever on the steering column is not going all the way to park?

automatic transmission column selector/lever not locking into park

So the shift lever was working properly before I removed a 1 1/4 transfer case spacer (another story). When the shift lever is in park I can simply tap the arm and it moves to reverse (with the ignition turned on). The shift lever does not need to be pulled back to move it to reverse. I...

    NP208 case internal help

UPDATE - So I completed the install, took out the transfer case drop and shimmed the rear axle. No more low MPH vibration. Put about 100 miles on it and everything seems great. I e-mailed Tom Woods d/shaft with pictures and questions. They called me today and explained that 1/2 of the main...
