    1976 C10 Trailering Special

1976 Chevy C10 Trailering Special. 454 V8 with Holley double pumper, Turbo 400, factory posi rear end, 156k miles. Interior is in great shape, body is fairly straight but has rust (I hear they call it 'patina' these days) and one dented fender. Power steering (with new pump), power brakes...

    Fuel Filler Hose

It's a regular, long bed and that hose looks about right, thanks! For some reason, that never showed up when I was searching.

Saddle Tanks NOT near as dangerous as publicized !!!

I've had a couple rigs with the fuel tanks in the cab and everyone else is always freaked out by it. But I've always figured if someone hits me hard enough that it breaches the cab, breaches the tank, and ignites the fuel...I would probably not be around to ever know the tank blew, nor would I...

    Fuel Filler Hose

I have a '76 C10, the rubber fuel filler hose leaks like a sieve. I am not having much luck finding a new one, does anyone have a part number I can search for? Trying to find it locally if I can.

Favorite cars I have owned....and sold

I'll play this one, I've had: *-1970 Ford F-100 - my first, still have it today -1991 Toyota Camry - commuter while I was in college in AZ -1980 Toyota Corolla - another commuter after '91 was totaled by a left-turner, sold to a guy from CT...probably the only car I truly miss that I've sold...

    Big Block Spark Plugs

Must be older heads or an older motor. Any idea when that cut-off happened? Pre-'76 as far as I can tell, 95% sure the motor from the donor truck is original.

Squarebody Down! HELP - Member Roadside Assistance Volunteer Map

I am in 98208 with a ramp truck (with winch) as well as a fairly capable XJ in the event of assistance needed off the beaten path.

    Big Block Spark Plugs

Trying to figure out a part number here. I have a 454 which came out of my '79 C30. The spark plugs I took out (which I did not save because I am a moron) were sized for a 13/16" socket. When I pick-up new plugs, they are sized for a 5/8" socket and the threads don't even reach the hole...

    Rear Brake Lines

I don't think I even have a load sensing valve on mine, IIRC. Either way though, that would definitely be a lot of twists and turns to try and navigate with a 15'-long brake line lol. Knowing myself the way I do, I will probably be lazy and bend the line from the last union to the rear axle...

    Rear Brake Lines

I think I know the answer to this one but figuring it can't hurt to get other opinions: is there any reason for the two unions in the front-to-rear brake line other than ease of installation/fabrication? One of mine is leaking, I suspect due to a bad flare on the SS line. My '79 is a cab and...

    Plate on Intake Manifold

I have a potentially stupid question (most of my questions usually are) on my '79 454. What is this plate on the intake manifold? Mine is set-up with two holes that are attached to a tube that loops within the passenger side head. Long story short, I went to remove it yesterday so I could...

    What is this?

Thought I'd post a quick update: I ended up bypassing and removing this module. It was pretty easy, didn't even have to re-wire anything. Ignition and tach wires were plugged into part of the harness, simply unpluged there and plugged them into the distributor directly. Runs like a champ...

    Pedal Return Spring

A big thank you to Chengny! With that diagram, I finally found it! I've been searching for about 6 months and I just placed my order. Hopefully it actually shows up ;). http://www.4speedconversions.com/3850084.html

    Pedal Return Spring

That diagram helps, it is part #48. Guess it's called a pull back spring.

    Pedal Return Spring

Does anyone know where I can find a pedal return spring for my hydroboost brake pedal? I checked the hardware store and they did not have anything that was close enough. I have been keeping an eye out in junk yards but no luck so far. How necessary is the spring anyway? I know I have a leak...

    Extra wire in starter loom

Well, I noticed a wire on both trucks...not necessarily the same wire. However, in both cases it appeared to run the same from the starter loom (I did not yet trace the wire back to its origin on the '76) so I thought there might be a connection. I expect you are probably correct on the '76...

    What is this?

I ended up just screwing mine to the firewall when I did the valve covers a while ago, seemed to work. Now that I am doing the motor swap and paying more attention to some of these details, I think I've decided to eliminate it. A little less wiring to clutter my firewall and one less plug to...

Yeah, that would have been a bunch of big surprises :D

    What is this?

I probably should have clarified, the picture is not my truck, just an example I found on-line. I put new valve covers on mine so the stock mounting spot is gone (plus I was not at home so couldn't go get a picture).

    What is this?

I knew it was a stupid question. Finally found a decent wiring diagram and I think this is what I am looking at. Looks like I can just connect the 3PNK-3 wire to the positive side (if you trace it all the way through, it goes to the ignition switch) and the 8WHT-121 to the tach side and cut...

    What is this?

For my next potentially stupid question today: I have a '79 C30 with a 454 and it has this box which is wired into the distributor and has a 2-prong plug going to ???. I have a few questions on it: 1. What does it do? 2. Can I bypass it? Where can I find a wiring diagram for it? 3. If not...

    Extra wire in starter loom

I got my hands on a '76 C10 with a pretty fresh 454 and I am almost finished with a motor swap in my ramp truck (the old motor was running about 5 lbs cold start oil pressure (or less) before I pulled it o_O). One thing I noticed while I was doing the swap: there is an extra wire which runs in...

    Finding a donor 454

I really wish I had the room, I've seen a few RVs for sale with 454s. Really an RV would be the perfect donor, usually limited use and can be had for dirt cheap.
