True to all of that. Most of those guys just leave them on to suck up their mileage and to get weather worn. The only thing that’s worse is the $200k Sprinter vans for backcountry adventures, and none of the leave town. Not hatin’ tho- if the OP gets one and uses it, more power to him.- ChuckN

Final coat of paint and ready to go on- but the screws I had were too short, so I decided to wait for the valve cover studs to be delivered. Still using the steel core FelPro gaskets and love them. -

Finished making the valve cover baffles and screwed them in with red loctite. I don’t care if they never come off. Just waiting for the bond to cure then I’ll have them on tomorrow. -

Not seen that one yet- she’s a beaut! VGG Shine Juice is partially linseed oil, along with some other stuff to make it more durable. I think it’s available in matte or gloss. I have the gloss version. -

The paint is a mismatch of different types of paint, and is amateur at best in some area. Maybe not rattlecan, but definitely rough to the touch. I did try VGG’s shine juice once but I messed up the application a bit, might try that again. -

Spent some time finishing up the baffles for the Mickey Thompson valve covers. I did a test fit, but the grease I placed on the top of the rockers contacted the baffle. Which was weird to me because the old Edelbrock are shorter, the baffle just as low, no issues. Well, damn. Edelbrock was... -

This. I ordered up trans cooler lines for mine but gave up on them since trying to get them through around the engine was impossible. They were high quality tho. -
1981-87 Chrome body side molding
I got mine from Route LA custom parts but I see that they’re sold out now. I imagine they’re probably the same kit that is made for LMC, high quality. I used the 3M eraser wheel, adhesive remover, acetone etc. You won’t be able to get all the glue marks off likely, but that’s an obstacle... -

They’re by far the best deal in town, and if you pick up a 70s version, you get all the cool kid interiors with houndstooth or plaid, etc. and I personally think they have great body lines- if I had the room to park one I’d love to have one even if to have a great old truck to take the family...- ChuckN

Yeah, not too bad. Looks like they were powder coated from the factory with a rough texture- I’m just going to rough them up a bit with some sandpaper and hit them with some satin. The Bilsteins are great- took a loop around town. Got home and had a few minutes so upon Steve Dulcich’s suggestion, I picked up some of this Dawn stuff and started cleaning the M/T valve covers. This stuff is awesome! It actually was working better than brake cleaner since it hangs around...
