Anybody considered hacking up these panels to fit silverado trim?

These panels are probably decent enough, like most of the aftermarket panels. But I've yet to find any that are correctly embossed for Silverado trim. The door fabric, and all the metal looking stuff won't fit. The "trim" is already molded into the new panel. So I was thinking of buying a set...

How much more power can a 5.3L make without hurting road manners or gas mileage?

I want to do the 5.3L swap, but I'd like to add some power and torque before it goes in the truck. But there's two conditions: I don't want it to hurt the road manners, and I don't to harm the MPG. By road manners, I mean I don't want it to shake the truck at all. Just feel totally smooth like a...

What was the cause of the door strap defect?

Another way would be to have the screw go through the cap instead of under it. Wouldn't look very nice, but the cap wouldn't come off anymore. Maybe if you had chrome plated screws it might look ok.

What was the cause of the door strap defect?

Ah I see what you're saying now. Do you happen to have a link to the silicone you use? I'd end up getting the wrong kind, and they'd be welded on there. And have to be ground off or something. I have some stuck to my sink that I can not get off of there. It would probably damage the sink if I...

What was the cause of the door strap defect?

I can't see the back of the panels at the moment so... Do the door-strap screws go into the steel door itself? Or just into the panel? If they go into the actual door, then you can't simply glue the caps down. Cause you'd be gluing them down over important screws. You might need to take those...

What was the cause of the door strap defect?

It's a typical problem with these old trucks. Where the chrome caps always pop off of the door straps. My truck was already missing the caps on both sides, so I wanted to ask what caused this common problem. And what could be done to prevent it from happening again. I want to buy new door-pull...

    Inexpensive cup holders?

Do they seem durable to you? Do they withstand years of use?

    Inexpensive cup holders?

These are pretty cool if you want your truck to look factory. You could easily stealth these and nobody would know they were there because they fold up when not in use. Mount them to something near the bottom of the bench seat: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EDQR46/

    Inexpensive cup holders?

Hi all. I'm looking for a cup holder that goes at the front of the bench seat, and sits on the floor. Not one that plugs into the slot for the ash tray. I was thinking maybe I could just buy something like this, and alter it a bit so it would stay in place: https://www.ebay.com/itm/295485126875...

How many times can wires flex?

So basically, let it droop a bit so there will be some flex. That way there's not actually a whole lot of wire movement. And use quality wire.

How many times can wires flex?

I'm referring to the wires that go from the cab, into the doors. How many times can a wire flex before the copper finally breaks? One would assume that it's an awful lot. I recently wired up some new stuff in my doors, and I had to create new wiring, I wasn't able to use what GM had already...

I know what i am going to do!

Step 1: have $40k But seriously it will be a long project, have to slowly fix it up over time. And be ready to fix some things twice because it's been 10 years since you fixed it the first time. lol!

Anyone know where I can find this fabric?

Found it here, I'd recommend them they're great! Very helpful and sent me a couple of extra samples just to make sure I found the right one. Hard to tell from the pic, but it matches the one on the left. Other was too gold, too, brown, and too light. https://oemautofabric.com/

Anyone know where I can find this fabric?

Yes I believe I talked to her before but she only sells the covers. Not the fabric itself.

Anyone know where I can find this fabric?

It seems he only deals with newer fabrics and non-factory seats. Nice stuff, but not what I'm looking for this time

lol any relation to edward? Never heard of him, do you perhaps have a link to his work or his site?

Anyone know where I can find this fabric?

As you can see from the image, the fabric I'm looking for is kind of a golden color. It's like a cross between tan and gold somehow. There does appear to be a lighter brown color there too, but I'm talking about the pleats, the part that the driver would be sitting on. I'm recovering my own...

The loud crack of the turn signal

Seems highly unlikely, as I believe the cop would have to be familiar with the size those were originally supposed to be. At a glance it would fool almost everyone, because it's still there. It's just smaller now. It's not a small job though, it will require a 3D printer and a good scanner...

    Having problems with blinker

Got it resolved, it was a compound problem. First it was the ground. Then the side marker light died just while sitting there. Last I checked it was working, which was recently when I was working on the ground problem. It would light up, but with somewhat questionable brightness. Once replaced...

The loud crack of the turn signal

It would be cool if you rigged that up and the lights were hidden away. Or if they could somehow be merged into the big orange blinker on the side of the fender. Which I may shrink someday, by 50%. Might look better. Have to fill in screw holes though. Anyway on modern cars they have the...

The loud crack of the turn signal

Hmm not sure if those lights would be all that useful in a squarebody truck. As far as I know we never had them, just blinkers on sides of the fenders. I do intend to install LED's in the bottoms of the doors though. You'd never see them, so the truck would look factory. But when you open the...

The loud crack of the turn signal

I'm curious to know how you're thinking it would look cool. I was thinking of polishing it to look as close to factory as possible. Maybe you're thinking about leaving a brushed aluminum look? If the plastic is insulating the contacts then you'd have to line the machined turn signal with...

    Having problems with blinker

Well in case anyone else has this trouble, looks like there's two answers: You can install a resistor that makes it the same as an incan: https://www.ebay.com/itm/325052040507 Or you can replace your blinker flasher with an "electronic" one that's made for LED's. And you have to avoid the...

The loud crack of the turn signal

So that's just the way it is, and it would take a modification to make it otherwise. Gotcha. I may put that grease in there someday if I need to work on the column itself. Next question! Anyone think it would be a good idea to machine a turn signal bar out of something better? Say high grade...

The loud crack of the turn signal

Ever notice how the turn signal sounds like something is breaking? In newer cars, the turn signal bar usually just makes a "thunk" sound when you signal a turn. But in these old trucks, specifically my 87, the turn signal makes a loud "crack!" or pop sound. It always has. Makes me wonder if that...
