2000 GMC Sierra Z71, 173k Thinks it will be around for awhile. Other than gas, insurance and general maintenance parts its a keeper.

Have you ever listened to Dave Ramsey? Car loans are somewhat of an obstacle to building wealth as well. Paying cash for something is worth looking into.

Edit: just re-read your post and it sounds like you already pulled the trigger on the new purchase.

I haven’t made the new purchase yet, maybe a month or two. That said, IF I'm leaving WA in about 3 months I'd be better off to wait until I'm gone. Registration here will cost a buttload with the sales tax, tags, etc. AND I'll just have to pay those costs again where I land. Also, if could have paid cash for a rig I'd have just thrown that money at the credit cards and kept the Suburban, but my earnings have been reduced 40% annually since the job change so my liquidity is gone.

What I am attempting to do is convert the high interest CC debt to a significantly lower interest auto loan thus reducing my overall credit utilization for a more favorable debt to income ratio. Not that that is super important with my student loans being what they are, but it will look better for the auto loan and free up money every month. I'm also simultaneously getting a lower mileage vehicle, reducing my fleet size and maintenance/insurance costs by a wide margin. I think it's a win, win for my situation honestly.

That’s awesome man! You’ll be in a great spot to attend lots of shows. My parents live in McCormick, SC which is ~45min north of Augusta. I’m ~2hrs from there, you’ll have C10s in the City, C10 Fall Revival, C10 Nats, Battle in Bama and Turkey Run all within reasonable distance of you!

You have the right mindset to eliminate debt, especially high interest rate CCs.

Student loans are a biggie for a lot of folks. I had many tens of thousands in student loans. I got downright aggressive with the payoff. Ramen noodles, beans, rice, driving hoopties and living in a leaky dank RV to put every penny towards what we owed.

I’m headed back in that direction to get hyper intense with investing so we can retire in the next ten years. We are looking to sell our two newer cars and buy a couple of 20 year old corollas for DD’ing again. Having money tied up in depreciating assets is just silly and we are sick of the insurance premiums and registration fees. We’ve been 100% debt free for 5 years now and it’s a load off our shoulders, no doubt.

My street legal 83 Honda ATC200X. It has a 233cc OHV engine with electric start and reverse. Yes it is titled as a 200x, tagged and insured to ride on the highway. I rode it from Phoenix to Nebraska once on a 5 day 1300 mile trip. Stupidly sold it in 2015, didn't see it for 7 years. Then one magical day while I was checking out a mini bike to fix and flip, the guy opens the shed door to show me the mini bike and there my 200x sat. I looked at the guy and said "HOLY SH!T!" He says "oh, you like my 3 wheeler huh?" I said I BUILT THAT. It was the same guy I had sold it to and neither of us had recognized each other. I bought it back the same day and it will never leave my possession again. She ain't everyone's cup of tea but the PHX to NE trip is a long story and probably a world record for an ATC ridden on the highway so it's pretty special to me. Cops LOVE IT. Not many truly street legal ATCs out there. The "Wicked X"

Thanks. I've owned at least 75 trucks and cars, 200 motorcycles, and that one gets more thumbs up and attention than any other by far. If that car and a Corvette are sitting next to each other, 9/10 people will completely ignore the Corvette. I have gotten to the point where I have to look straight ahead at every single light and act like I can't see the guy next to me trying to get me to roll my window down to talk about it. It's truly a phenomenon. Maybe it's the '59 Apache back window

My mom had a 1982 (I think) 750 CSR back when I was a kid in the mid '80's. I looked basically just like that one! Haven't seen one of those in a long time. My dad had a 1980 750 LTD.

I totally agree with Jeremy. We were introduced to Dave Ramsey about 15 years ago. Sold vehicles, took an extra job driving school bus, quit eating out, and just hammered on paying off debt. Took about 5 years to get out of all the debt other than the mortgage and knocked out the mortgage 3 years ago. There is nothing more freeing than getting out of debt. I will never borrow money again.
