Any tricks to getting your SB doors to close easier?

Gotta slam the doors on the K5 to get them to close. Its annoying.

I tried messing with the door seals, adjusting the striker, lubing everything, etc. No luck.

Thoughts?

Are your hinge bushings worn out? Is the plastic sleeve on your door strikers?

Sorry I can’t figure out how to link to my previous post, but I just fixed my K5 Blazer door slamming problem and posted it in Post #23,043.

Door bushings are OK. Plastic is gone, but the stikers are greased. Does the plastic help?

My drivers door has always been a PITA to close all the way. I hate slamming doors or anything else for that matter, but that’s what it took to close it all the way. Then I found the thread here about using 1/2” PEX to make new sleeves for the door catch. Some of my original sleeve was still there but not much.

Bought a stick of 1/2” PEX and made and installed a new sleeve. HUGE improvement!! Door shuts normally again!

Plus I have enough left over material to make replacement sleeves for the next 1268 years.

Plastic helps a lot - there was a thread not too long ago showing that PEX plumbing tubing works really well as a cheap replacement for the plastic sleeve on the striker.

You should buy axle seals,brake shoes and front and rear springs.

Rubber hose doesn’t work. Answering for a friend.

Rubber hose won't work. You can buy the new strikers if you want to spend the dough. PEX is cheaper.

PEX tubing cut to correct length...
Fixed both my doors.
Now they close with very little effort.

The pex trick was one of the first things i learned about these old trucks. Happened on a short yt about it.
