Fuse Box/Panel in a 1991 GMC Suburban V1500 - I'm trying to identify wiring/fuse issue

I have an odd situation I need help deciphering and unfortunately I have limited knowledge when it comes to electrical
this started out with trying to figure out why the vanity light in my 1991 GMC Suburban V1500 wasn't lighting up so I started with replacing all the bulbs... no joy
Next while handling it I wound up with the light fixture in my lap as the 2 wires that were connected in the back of it popped loose and the fixture came free...
I have another post on that one where a fellow offered his advice on where the wires need to reconnect to but I tried his suggestion and... no joy

So I thought check for a bad fuse... well, trying to get in any position to see the fuse box let alone read the fuse names is pretty rough on my 65 yr old bag of bones but I managed to get a picture of the fuse box.

could someone tell for absolutely positively sure what fuse is for the vanity light? if so I'd be most grateful, that way I'll suck it up and get that fuse checked and replaced.

my luck its something else because I noticed my passenger side low beam light goes out when I was messing with the vanity light, maybe it is a coincidence but it seemed to go out and then a short time later the dang headlight is working again! that's pretty much how my week has gone, one step fwd and two steps back... not making any progress yet

in the meantime I will continue looking through the forum for any other tips ...

Should be the same as the tail light bulbs,so if taillights work I would not assume a fuse issue. I'd check for power to dome light,with the headlight twisted to the dome light on position, if you have power there and then, it is a ground issue,which is fairly common on these trucks.

yes, tail light/courtesy fuse is the one for the dome/glovebox/vanity/etc. one of those wires in the vanity should be hot all the time at the vanity. the other one must to go a ground. check for 12v to find the hot one. check the other one to see if it is grounded. if it isn't it should be. the schematic doesn't show where it is grounded, so it is probably someplace close by the visor mount i'd guess. but I've never torn into it to know for sure.

It is grounded through the vanity light switch. Could be a bad switch or bad ground if you have power on the orange wire. I attached the diagnostic for box lamp- vanity light should be similar. i couldn't find one for the vanity light. like mentioned before- not exactly sure where the vanity light grounds.

Pop one of the lenses off the vanity lamps. Use a 12v test light, see if one side of the bulb has power. If not, you know you have a power supply issue.

I’m pretty sure the wiring for the vanity lights runs down behind the drivers side A pillar trim panel. Look for an orange wire, make sure it’s plugged in. The connector body is keyed to only fit in one spot, making it almost idiot proof.

reluctantly I decided to take the visor off and do some poking around. I was hesitant to do that because though the headliner looks pretty good but the foam backing disintegrates just by touching it and the corner of the headliner where the visor mounts was my concern. The wife knows we need a new headliner but that's not in the budget right now and even though she reeeally wants the lighted vanity to work she's agreed to let me hold off and deal with it next spring... she's an awesome wife in so many ways, always supportive. Well, her awesomeness inspired me and when she headed out to do some grocery shopping today I thought what the heck, be careful and see if I can see what's up...

turns out the wire that runs up the pillar was broken!!

I was so lucky in that there was enough wire on both ends I was able to solder it and bada-boom-bada-bing! its working!!

she's not home yet but later I will suggest we swing by Dairy Queen for a Blizzard and I'll figure something clever to say to her to get her to open the visor lid

like the saying goes... happy wife, happy life!
