Opinions on best newish Suburban or Tahoe

I forget that some people don't enjoy/want to work on/improve/mod a vehicle lol. Like my '05 I just bought that's already spiraled WAYYY out of hand

This is why I had the transmission guy do mine actually. I was ASE certified in automatic and standard transmissions when I was 17(28 yrs ago...), but never had to tear into one once out of school. I probably could have got the tools, diaged the trans and repaired it with several days of youtube watching and remedial reading. However, the $862 to get it done right and not having to lay on my back on ice cold concrete was a very worthwhile spend for me. I would have probably thrown my back out and missed a bunch of income tripping over dollars while chasing nickels.

I really do appreciate the folks who jump in with both feet on a major project and I do love following along. Now, I'm fine for suspension, steering, brakes and other light maintenance/repair, but when the $#!t get deep - I know me and in those instances paying a pro is the way to go for optimal efficiency and positive outcome.

That is something I would also like to learn how to do, but that's definitely one thing for the daily that I'll hand off to a pro. I'll find a junkyard core to do myself and then swap in to see if I did it right lol

Being the van guy that I am, I've gotta point it out.

Another good option could be an Express passenger van. They are fairly utilitarian with not a bunch of electronics to complicate things. But they are comfortable and drive nice, many got such options as power windows, locks, seats, etc. Although uncommon to find, they were available with all wheel drive too, in the 1/2 ton, regular wheelbase model.

Yesterday, on our way to eat after church, I saw a '17 suburban in a used car lot. After filling up my wife's car, on the way home, I said to stop at the car lot so she can see why I am looking at the suburban platform.

She was amazed at the amount of space there is in those rigs. Of course the salesman wanted us to test drive it, we declined. He went to talk with some other people and left us to look over the vehicle. I can honestly say I haven't been around a suburban since I was a kid. I'd forgotten how spacious they are. I knew it from memory, but not from seeing it firsthand. It was comfortable, lots of creature comforts, 138k on the clock, looked really nice, but not 4x4.

My wife definitely liked the idea of getting one for the reasons I mentioned. I told her the 3rd row seats should come out, which left the middle seats for passengers, and the huge back area for Lola's crate, our gear ans the other puppy girls. Plenty of room for sure. Going camping in one would be a breeze!

The salesman went into sell-mode when he came back. I had to let him down, told him why we were looking at it, and while it is a nice vehicle, it doesn't have everything we are looking for if we were going to buy one. I'll give him credit, he still tried to get us in it, but he wasn't too pushy and accepted the fact we weren't driving it home.

It definitely makes want to start looking again...lol...

Just sold our 2015 Tahoe last July and downsized to a GMC Terrain 4wd. Tahoe was a great rig, did what we wanted it to do, Just too much for us to keep up.......by that I mean washing it....we need @Frankenchevy Jeremy around!!..lol.. Climbing up on a 2 rung step to get the top washed was very hard on my Brides knees, and she wouldn't THINK of me taking care of HER ride!!! So it went to a couple from Burns OR for $18K. It had 117,000 on it and NO trouble what so ever.....I think we both miss it, but the Terrain is doing what we want it to do.......and gets right at 30 mpg all day long. The Subs are about a foot or 18 inches smore room?

I ain’t got the time to use 3 buckets and 2 kinds of sponges. Big ole car wash brush takes care of it.
Can even do the roof on the bro dozer and the K20 standing flat footed on the driveway!
Occasionally I’ll blind spray some spray wax up there too. Let it marinate a few min and flip a towel up on the roof and BAM waxed and dried.

I first plugged in 2007 Yukon, and since I am not well versed on these, I don't know the body styles until I see a photo, but then I still may not know the year. Since the internet is always displaying the correct information and is completely trust worthy, I decided to go to KBB website for the information. I then re-read the thread to get reacquainted with the info that was shared. Being tempted by @ByrdDog 's offer, but not knowing exactly what was being offered, and needing to see what is out there, I clicked on cars for sale, but in the 2003-2006 year range, and found some good ones out there. KBB defaulted my zip code to about 6 hours away, so I adjusted it, and saw a beauty of a 2003 Burb. This is more tempting with it being local, but they are asking 22.5k which is way too high. Granted it only has 94k miles, so they only drive it about 4200 miles a year. Unfortunately there is no room on the property and nothing is ready to sell to make room.

Plugged in all of the items in the ad to see what the value is, and it is much lower than their asking price, which I expected it to be.

I told my wife about @ByrdDog 's offer to sell his 2007 Yukon, and that it would be a trip to Amarillo, and also the 2003 Suburban I saw locally. She likes it but asked the hard question, "Which vehicle(s) is/are leaving to make room for the Suburban?" None yet.
