Agreed on the longer WB making it ride better. One of many reasons we preferred longbed trucks. I had a buddy in high school that took me out wheeling in his '74 Blazer K5. Fun,and we were just going around the bayous and where subdivisions were going in near school, but the short WB made it not as enjoyable.
On the other hand, my Crew Cab rides nice with a load in it. Empty, it's VERY obvious you're in a one ton truck. I rode in the bed yesterday evening, cause I had lots of groceries in the back seat, and it was quite the bumpy ride (truck does need shocks and some front end work though).

Maybe because the longer wheelbase rides better, just like a Square Body, and they're not planning to go over steep ridges.

Ha! What steep ridges? Most of them never leave the pavement, lol.

Right, but what do you need interior space for when you only drive yourself to and from you day job? And the biggest loads they see is groceries from the grocery store or maybe clothes from the mall.

My brother has a theory about this very thing. He noticed many of his smaller female friends had Jeeps or trucks, because they felt safer and could see further ahead in traffic. Might be a reverse macho thing too.
This is exactly why my GF has a fullsize truck and wants a 4x4 when we build her a square. She's 5' 2" and likes to sit up high, she feels like she can't see well driving my C10 or my previous Fusion I had.

My daily is a 2018 VW Golf R. It is the first (and only) new car I have ever owned. If I had a million dollars, I would still probably daily-drive this car. I love it that much.

Much to our chagrin, we found a deal on a (gasp!) minivan a couple years ago. A 2010 grand caravan, base model, but for $1000 and right at 100k miles. At the time, her hardbody truck was down for a grenaded transmission and a need for a covered cargo area was high. So a grand to git er done seemed like a good idea. Well, remind me to not buy any rigs where road salt is a thing. This one lived in Minnesota and Kansas its entire life until it found its way out the Oregon trail. I knew it had corrosion issues, but damn. I won't go into the discoveries prior to this job, but man I didn't expect this. Chalk it up to sloppy diagnosis in my old age.

I thought all it needed was a new turn plate bearing assembly on the driver's strut. It was rubbing weird on stationary turns, so I figured replace the part and be on with it. Well, no. It never is just that simple. If you've never seen one, there's a large plastic panel that covers up the wiper mechanism and blocks view of the top of the struts. I think you know what is coming....

Gaah! I guess I'm sending the turm plates back and going with new strut assemblies. Even if I got it apart safely, there's no bolting the strut rod back together. Not to mention the sway bar links won't disengage, even with soaking in Kroil and an attempt at crayon thread release.

So, cut cut cut to get the links joint apart. I hope the strut doesn't come loose up top when I get all the weight off of it. Considering putting a coil compressor stud on as a safety factor in removal. More pics later on, wish me safety and luck with this project. I will go into the fuel tank straps on another installment.

No square work until I get her grocery getter back together.

Just for an extra measure of safety I managed to get my spring compressor suicide sticks on before I took any weight off the strut. Peace of mind and no trips to the hospital for any physics related modifications. Wasn't much of a grab, but it was enough for the need.

Had to cut one of the sway bar link ends off the strut to monkey with it. A bit of grinder work with a cutting disc first, then the grinding disc and the separation was complete. A little paint on the end of the sway bar from where my exuberance left its mark and all was set for reassembly.

Life cereal box for the sparks and paint overspray protection for the win. Some bolts here and there, and it's back on the road. Had I time for Rock Auto I would have spent less than half than the green parts store. Too much RA, and there won't be many stores so it's all good. Besides, time is money, and mommas time is not to be trifled with. Nothing broken, bleeding or out of sorts, so I am putting one in the win column. She was happy with the improved ride, so that's a win.

The gas tank repair promises, in spades, to be another corrosion riddled bunch of fun. The strap attachment area is considerably rotten and I hope it will go back without too much modification. All for going after the evaporative system code for a leak. But park full on an incline and you will leave money on the pavement. Just have to schedule a time when it's idle for a couple days and almost empty. Uh huh.

Still rollin' in the 1995 as our daily driver.
Also the newest vehicle of the 8 we have.

I was checking the oil the other day and took some under hood photos as I have not done that in forever.
For having 245,*** miles, it runs like a champ but burns some oil at startup and when cold.
