I have a 1973 chevy c20 straight 6 engine. I was driving down rode went to make a left came to a stop it just shut off... I got it towed home. Has a brand new battery so I immediately replaced the coil (thinking it was bad). Im getting no spark from my distributor so I replaced the rotor the plug the convertor and all inside distributor. it still just turns over wont start. Still no spark from distributor. I tested it from battery to coil I have power according to tester from coil to distributor i got nothing.... WHATS WRONG!?!?!?:flipthebird:

Points are burnt or out of adjustment. Now would be a good time to convert to HEI Electronic Ignition, but do keep in mind, for an Inline 6, the dizzy isn't as easy to find and will cost more than a V8 dizzy. Good news is, once you get it done, its done and just about bullet proof as far as dependable.

Once Again, Welcome to GMSB Anthony. I got you fixed up with your own thread on this issue rather than thread jacking another thread with a different issue. Good luck with this. Check those points. If it's a Points Dizzy, I'd be about positive it's your points, and/or condensor.

To see if you are getting anything from the distributor, you need to rotate the engine, until the points are closed, but you will need your meter set for continuity, and put one probe on the coil- side, and the other probe to an engine ground.

I'd check the point gap anyway. If they weren't tightened down good, they can slip out of gap and cause your problem too.
