Looking back on the 4L transmissions, they have a clip to orient them correctly, right?

That must be broken off lol
Not exactly. There’s an exterior tang that hooks into a small square in the male end on the trans. There’s a small square both toward the rocker and toward the trans body. So you can push it in and it’ll “click” and seat both ways. I’ve got a new PSI harness and come to find out, there’s an arrow that points down toward the trans. That should face out toward the rocker

My 400 passed the visual inspection mostly...

The front planetary reaction carrier looks like it'll need replacing, im not sure if it was ever replaced. I see hardened components internally, aftermarket HD clutches, etc.

I didnt take apart my clutch drums yet, but all in all, everything looked ok.

Will need another seal/gasket set. Some of the seals looked dried out from sitting.

I'll get it going soon, and then work on getting the big block and 400 in the truck.

Anyone out there have a crossmember for a th400 for a c10?

If not, i'll make myself one, or modify an existing one.

For the crossmember, just slide it to the other set of holes in the frame :)

You might have to modify it a little. It's the same as the one on my truck. My neighbor gave it to me, so I'll give it to you if you can use it.

Got the bed pulled off... cleaning out some things in the shop and then I’ll pull the bumper, hood, fenders and core support before it gets pushed into the shop. Got everything I need to put the 4” lift on, install the blazer 30 gal tank, new-to-me bed floor, and a bunch of other stuff while I wait for the motor to come back from the machine shop. Guess I should start a build thread at this point..
