Looking for more examples of factory leather wrapped steering wheels like mine.

Who's got one in their truck - pics?

What other options did your truck come with?

Mine is the only example I have been able to find, these were apparently a Wrangler Edition exclusive with the "B" option package.

If you don't own one have you seen one?

My 1980 GMC Sierra Classic K25 has that exact steering wheel. The leather is falling off of it, but you can still see it was there at one point.

Wow that's a great looking steering wheel. My truck is an 84 Scottsdale. Not much for options 305 / 700R4 manual windows / manual door locks / no tilt. It does have A/C, I'm a real heat wimp so that's a big deal to me, to have A/C. Also has a rear slider which if not factory might be a dealer installed unit. Back to the steering wheel. I don't like aftermarket ones at all, I like to look but not the feel of the standard factory steering wheels so I bought one of those leather wrap steering wheel covers. Let me see if I have a pic handy....

Here’s the steering wheel with all the leather falling off and the cracked center cap. It will be getting rewarded and a new horn cap when I redo the interior.

And here’s the original option sheet.

I actually took this picture to show my shifter switch. That's a manual controller for the torque converter clutch. I'll engage automatically in overdrive but not in 3rd, so when I'm towing and running in third I can flip that switch to lock the converter. But you can also see a good chunk of the steering wheel. The only way I'd swap steering wheels is if I found one like yours in good shape. I really like it!

I see the option sheet but I'm not sure what option is the wheel supposed to be. Where did you get that print out from?

I would assume it is a subset of the Sierra Classic YE9 package. Your "Wrangler" option probably had a subset of interior RPO's that come in it. The sierra classic RPO also includes a bunch of other RPO's like V22 and others.

I paid the $50 to GM media archive to get the original vehicle invoice for my VIN. It also tells you build date and original invoicing dealership with total invoice price, which was cool. My truck was missing all SPID labels when I got it.

From what I can find, the Wrangler "B" package had all of the silverado/sierra classic options(which would have included that steering wheel) plus a bunch of wrangler specific badging and paint options

Every wheel pictured here in this thread has a non-stock wrap. The wheels are factory, but the leather/vinyl is not.

First wheel has had leather sewn on by a professional.

The second wheel has a do-it-yourself type leather wrap bought from a store.

The third picture has the foam/vinyl type with nylon cord that was very common to see back in the day. Most parts stores still sell them too. And the leather type can still be found here and there.

I have seen various discussions where people have said the wrangler option did have a unique leather wrapped wheel. Those trucks were only sold in Canada. I would not be surprised if mine wasn’t stock. Various other interior items have been redone at some point on mine.

Yes, but just because it was sold new with the leather wrap doesn't necessarily mean it was installed at the factory.

The third one is mine and just encase I wasn't clear previously what bucket said is exactly correct, it is foam/vinyl and purchased at one of the local parts stores a little over a year ago.

http://www.73-87.com/Special_Editions/wrangler.htm

This guy seems like a pretty reliable source. He has lots of detailed information about Wrangler options.

I'm still looking for more info from GM if I can find it.

I'm pretty sure mine came like that from the factory. Maybe I can get a build sheet from GM...
