I've had a few of them. They have all actually worked.
I had two trucks with the clock, both worked.

Also, mimor detail, but the one on the right was only up to '86. '87 had a check engine light at the bottom of the speedometer (for EFI trucks) and the fuel gauge in '87 no longer had the E, 1/2, or F, instead it showed the more modern GM style white circle/ball that appeared to be "filled" for full and "hollow" for empty.

This one has orange lights that say "4 Wheel Drive" on the left and "Service Engine Soon" on the right.

Starting to think that this is either a 90-91 Suburban gauge cluster with a pre-87 version fuel gauge or a pre-87 cluster with a 90-91 Suburban speedometer.

Well, even if this is a 90-91 'Burb speedometer, I still have a half assed functioning gauge cluster currently in my Blazer. I can just keep my current speedometer and printed circuit/housing, mix and match the best gauges and other pieces, and then hole saw the housing and drill the crystal for the clock. I'll also have plenty of spare bulbs plus 5 LED bulbs to light up the display. I'll just remove the one in there now and give it a good cleaning like I did this one today. I will make some lemonade, gosh darn it!

90-91 squares had an electric speedo so there’s be no cable connector on the back side plus the backside of the green housing would have a big square (about 4”x4”) casting to clear the speedo electronics.

I believe the 89-91 speedos had a 7 character odometer instead of 6.

OK, thanks. The only reason I thought it might have come from a later model Suburban is because when I did an image search the only results I was getting with a speedometer w/trip meter and a hi-beam indicator that looked like this one said they were from the later Suburbans.

Now the only issue I am running into is where to find the little black rubber grommets that fit into the gauge crystal around the clock stem. I don't know if there's one for the trip meter stem too, but I don't guess it would hurt to put one on there as well. I can't find these anywhere. I might run by the local Lowe's tomorrow and see if they carry anything that might work.

EDIT: Lowe's has grommets that work.

My '85 has the blue lights for the hi beam indicator and a trip odo was an option that we didn't order. When I had to replace the speedo I got a mechanical one from the dealer and it had a six-digit odometer. So somewhere in there they made the switch while still using mechanical speedometers. Sorry, I don't know what year that was.

Whatever you do, don't look at the Dakota Digital VHX gauges. You'll wonder how you ever lived without em.

My '89 Jimmy V1500 (K5 Blazer) had 6 characters and a tripmeter. I don't think there were any with 7.

Do you happen to remember if it had one large, circular blue light for the high beams setting, or two smaller, circular lights?

I was counting the tenths character.

I'm wondering how I can afford them! LOL they do look nice, though. Maybe someday. I just have a few kinks I need to work out under the hood before I can start dropping that kind of coin on a gauge cluster. The only reason I'm even messing with these clusters and contemplating swapping some stuff out is because I got them for free when I bought my Blazer for the huge sum of $1,500. I just spent more than the purchase price of the whole car fixing a bunch of stuff in the front end and the suspension.... Ugh.....

Anyway, I have been doing some research on my later model gauge cluster and I believe it is from 1988 or 1989. Apparently GM made them with the mechanical speedometer w/trip meter for a brief time before going electrical in 1990. I don't even know if I am going to use that thing now anyway because I just got the gauge cluster in there now working properly. Replaced the oil pressure sending unit and the temperature gauge sending unit and now every gauge I got works properly - except for the fuel gauge it only works half ass but I think it might need a new sending unit, too. After I replaced the sending units it seemed like it took both gauges a little while to "reset" or something, but now they both appear to be working. Temp is at about 140* and oil pressure idles around 40-45 and stays at about 50 when I'm driving.

I don't know if I am going to put this clock into my current gauge cluster or the 1988 one here in this thread. I might also get one of those big tachometers to replace the gas gauge and one of those small fuel gauges that fit where the clock would go. I'm gonna end up with a spare, functioning gauge cluster for parts or to sell, either way.
