Theres an s10 down the road from me thats sas and lifted monster truck high. I keep wanting to get a pic of it and post it in here but never do.
If I go any higher at this rate, I'm gonna need some serious money for some high angle driveline, or step up to a drop transfer case with a little subframe/cradle.

OK, so I finally had some time to get back to this shitbox.

I had been prepping my trailer I bought for pulling and such. Attached a 9k winch, then found a nice toolbox to put on the tongue, got a smoking deal on a HD 950cca battery for 100$ because the store manager at O'Reilly is my buddy.

Trailer is all put together, except a tap from the 7 pin plug to charge the battery... I'll get that done soon.

So first off, I pulled the old s10 master cylinder off, replaced it with a spare full size cylinder I had. You can see the difference in size.

Then I pulled the old sloppy steering box out, to replace it with a nice smooth, no slop box I picked up, that came with a 2" drop pitman arm.

From that point, while the box was out, I went ahead and Sawed out a section of the original IFS crossmember that would've been obstructing crossover steer.

"new" ps box is in, torqued down.

Now I'm prepping to install a new ps pump (I bypassed it years ago because it locked up)

I get my pulley tool out, press the pulley off, and low and behold, now I see why the bastard locked up! Haha! Look at it! I've never seen one that tore up.

Either way, it's a core for a new unit at 60$

Let me correct my statement. My buddy let me drive his 5.3 LS Tahoe one night while we were both slammed, we took it out in the field and were cutting doughnuts with it, in that case, it twisted the whole ps pump shaft off.
So maybe I have seen worse than mine.

Side story: even though he was the instigator, I replaced his pump for him next day, I did the labor, he bought the new pump.

I win the award for most destroyed ps pump actually. There's about a 1/2 thick pile of metal chips on the magnet and the shaft is sitting about 1/4 inch off from center.

Last pic is the front seal on the shaft.

What can I say, Im relentless with my stuff :33:

That looks like a great little lightweight car hauling trailer. What's the distance between the fenders?

18 feet, 82 or 83 between fenders.
Each axle is rated for 3500 pounds.
2016 model, I don't remember the brand.
Used to be a car hauler, guy welded angle iron down the center every 1 or 1.5 feet and put expanded metal a cross it so you can do more than pull cars.

Edit: s10 was gonna fit, now with wheel spacers lll be driving over the fenders now LOL

That is a wild setup. That's old school monster truck material. He's got 5 tons under it with homemade bracing under the tubes.

Get his number and tell him there's a hillbilly in NC that'll buy those tires tho Lol

Edit: I should've said if I wanted to go higher, drop t case, high angle driveline or top loads would be the next best move.

Its the little corner car dealer here. Apparently the owner was real big in the monster truck scene back in the day.

5 tons under a s10 really is like great Dane legs under a jack Russell lol, it looks funny. But it's still cool

You know, @78C10BigTen, after looking at that axle. That's a custom 5 ton. I looked again at the bolted together outers on it, it's got champagnes like a Clark axle.

Wonder if he's got planatary outers. The hubs look like basic 5 tons. But those big closed knuckles with the bolt on outer put me in mind of a Clark outer.

I noticed for whatever reason the rear appears to be factory 5 ton steer axle.

First pic is his 5 ton

Second is old pic if my 5 ton

The outers on his bolt on.

Old school monster truck guys would modify their axles and bolt on Clark or Pettibone outers to obtain a planatary 5 ton.

So obviously not only do you have 6.44 in the axles (common ratio) but you'll have 2.5 or 3:1 in the hubs, giving you a much lower gear ratio.

Before the ages of 1800 HP 500+ cubic inch motors, those guys would run a 454 with super low geared axles to turn the big tires.

Alot of times they'd have a 5 ton or 2.5 ton transfer case in there too.

A champagne is a bolt on "inner C" of an axle.

Common amongst Clark axles.
