Hey guys,

I registered a while back when I started looking for a truck. My dad and I live close to each other, and we both agreed a truck is needed. Since my shed needed major work I decided to pull the trigger, and always liked the old GM square bodies. So I told him the truck I would be getting would be an old square body. I've been looking, and last week found one. Tomorrow a friend of mine and I are picking it up. Truck needs a little TLC, new tires, and brake repair to be drivable, but once I get the repairs made it'll do nicely. These trucks have a following, and I look forward to getting it as well as doing some restoration to make it look and drive decent.

Thanks! I forgot to mention it was priced $1000, but since it would need trailered due to bad brakes he agreed to $800. I checked trucks at $1000-1500 that had 305 and 350s, but the body was junk to where it would need a new bed, and possibly new cab. The bed isn't perfect on this one but a welder and patch panels and it'll be good.

Good price in my opinion. If that bed side is all that the body needs, I’d consider it a win. If you could find a wrecked truck to grab that panel off of, you could bypass having to weld anything altogether. It has a lot of potential.

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't even think of that. There's a 78 at a salvage yard around the corner from me, so I'll have to take a look at the bed.

I went to pick up the truck yesterday, and at first the truck wouldn't start but once it fired up it ran smoothly. When I got the truck home it fired right up to pull it off the trailer. It's got no brake pedal, and it barely stops, so I got to investigate the cause of that, but that's half the fun.

The title shows " odometer discrepancy" so I'm not sure what the miles are on the truck. I found paperwork in the glove box that shows it was from Texas. A shame the original window sticker wasn't there, since that would answer questions of options and model. It looks like the driver door had been replaced, so don't have a way of knowing for sure based on the door tag.

My friend thought it was a good truck for the money, and while it's not perfect agrees that it is a good base.

Found this in the glove box. If I’m reading it right the truck has Silverado trim when new. I now have a direction as to the model type.
