Yeah, it's the 6.2l L86. Kind of a no-brainer there.
The L86 is standard on the Yukon Denali, I believe. but not the Sierra Denali.
It says premium fuel is recommended, and that it won't get the same mileage and performance on regular. But the way it's worded, if there's no premium around, the computer will just ****** some parameters and run on regular. I suspect the computer keeps the timing on the raw edge of knock whatever gas you run in it. That's the sweet spot.
The blue was simple. Every newer pickup I see here (pickups are about 1 in every 3 vehicles, including a bunch of squarebodies) is white, black, silver/grey, or red. Blue is pretty rare. This is the sixth vehicle I've bought new for myself in 36 years, and every single one of them was black, but I wanted something a bit different from the crowd.
Also, GM had "16% incentives on select vehicles in inventory", which was basically everything over about 60 days, so I picked from what was tagged for special incentives on the GM website. This one was up in Indy, about an hour away, so the local dealer traded the Indy dealer another Sierra Denali for it. It had what I was looking for: 6.2l, 20" wheels, and the black interior. The brown interior has very light-colored seats, and looks stupid to me. And I can't see paying $3000 extra to increase the unsprung weight (reducing compliance) and make the ride harsher (due to stiffer sidewalls) with 22" wheels.
The big attraction of the Denali for me was the magnetic suspension. Nice technology. It does not ride empty like a truck running empty. It basically rides like it's loaded all the time. That and the active noise cancellation that comes with the L86 makes it a very civilized vehicle to drive.
And it's stupid fast. I haven't found the bottom of the gas pedal yet. It's a little unnerving, because there are no sound effects with the acceleration. It just scoots -- quietly.
