Attempted to clean/polish drivers front wheel (aluminum). I got it clean, but the drill just didn't cut it buffing/polishing. Not enough rpm's. I'm trying not to buy another tool but I may have to. The 4" grinder I have will get most parts, but would be faster and more coverage if the tool was more inline. May have to get a die grinder. I think I've got enough compressor to last a few minutes with it.

I got these off amazon for the drill. Have held together for what I've done to one wheel.

Better tool suggestions are welcome. I've got 8 holes to get into, that's why I bought the kit that has a cone.


I polish most wheels by hand wet sand em down to 2000 grit then polish the hell outa them depending on scratches ive started with 220 and worked my way up done many semi wheels turn em to mirrors

It does, I got all the parts I need on the way but I'm out of motivation. It's just to hot an after working 12 hrs I can't get myself to do anything with it this week. I'm off Friday- Tuesday so I plan on getting it all done then. It's supposed to be a little cooler out as well.

Agreed - the heat has been punishing around these parts too. I haven't done half the work that you've been taking on and I've found myself just staring at the engine thinking ... Is this really worth it?

So, after paying a shop $250 to vacuum and charge my A/C system, and being really disappointed with the vent temps, I followed the old addage, "if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself". They way overcharged the system, and pressures were through the roof. This was supposed to be a reputable A/C shop, they handle all the EMS vehicles around here, etc. Very disappointed. I think they just threw in 80% of the factory charge, got mildly cool air and said "good enough for an old truck."

Turns out the system was overcharged by a decent amount. I tackled it with the gauges, watching pressures, and "recovering" the charge, just a bit at a time. Test drive, check temps, check lines for sweat, repeat. I was able to drop the pressures, increase cooling (47* full blast, 42* with fan turned down), and still verify that the accumulator and return line were sweating (not undercharged, still returning cool vapor to the compressor to cool it down, and supply it with oil).

I'm pretty irritated about spending $250 for them to just slap dash that in there. They spent zero time fine tuning it.

I hope, if it was 134A, that you recovered it in it's liquid state. If you recovered it in it's vapor state then the mix is going to be off. A little, but still off.

What do you mean by the mix? R134a is a single component refrigerant, not a blend like Freeze 12, R12a, etc.

Thanks guys. They had an angle grinder at tractor supply for $12, right price but I don't want it angled. The compressor I have is a 150psi/1.5HP 20 gallon sears, link below. We'll find the right tool at the right price and be smooth sailing from there.

You are correct. I was thinking of a different refrigerant. My bad!

No worries! I had fun looking into all the alternative refrigerants while diagnosing my cooling issues. It blows my mind that we still haven't come up with a better replacement for R12 after all these years. Now the automakers are moving on to an even WORSE performing refrigerant than R134a. They are starting to use the comically named HFO-1234yf...

Worked on the stepside pickup today. After a couple years of putting it off, I finally got around to building and installing a hidden hitch. Now it can finally pull trailers around again.

just went to install my new filler neck hose, the one they sent fits the filler neck but absolutely dwarfs the hose at the inlet to the tank. According to their site its the right hose for the truck but since I cut the old hose off to seal the tank, I had to cut the old hose and use it as a spacer between the tank inlet and the new hose.

Like it! Links? If anything put an LED aiming down for when you drop a shell or something when loading up for hunting.
