Auto dimming mirror w/ compass

Ol...so probably not a new concept by any means...but i was still pretty proud of it..my new auto dimming mirror with compass (no temp)you out of a late model gm vehicle. I know Old77 mentioned he was bout to do something like this..but ge trumped me with the one with the temp too!!...

I had one in my '81 with compass and temp dual display. I like having them. My van and Blazer have the compass and temp in the console so they just have auto-dim mirrors. If you need any help with the install, let me know. I have several compass/temp mirrors laying about as well.

^^^i used retros install instructions for my install on both my square and caprice I put the dual display mirror in the square and the older style temp/comp mirror in the caprice love having them

Retro hooked me up with one and how to install, I love it. I only have the compass on mine, someday I would like to upgrade to the temp also.

Let me tell ya...the auto darkening feature kicks ass...I took the tint off my back window due to the fact that backing my rig up in the dark of night was a bitch...next mod HID back up lights....anyone....anyone. Little upgrades like that bring it one step further to truly being my redneck cadillac!!!

I couldn't find a how to on the wiring of the dual display mirror, so all I have is the compass. I'm happy, but would be galore with a dual display!

Which mirror do you have as there are several models?

This is for the Gentex mirrors with the 7 pin connector:

Wire colors may vary but pinouts are the same.

Is the temp sensor avaliable aftermarket like at a parts house or where are they located on the vehicles they come out of. IM sure i can get one pretty easily working at LKQ

You can get one from any GM or Chrysler with the temp in the mirror or overhead console. Usually they are right behind the grille.

On Blazers/Jimmys/Bravadas/Astros/Safaris, they are clipped to the center grille support.

On full size trucks, they are bolted to the center grille support.
