Factory Underside paint?

Does anyone know how the underside(of the floors) of the GMC Sierra trucks' cab and bed were painted from the factory? Were they factory body color misted over primer?

My 1980 was black on the bottom of the cab and bed... Original body paint was like a metallic charcoal grey with a blue stripe

Pretty sure it varied from year to year and plant to plant. There were different sealers/primers and most likely different amounts of body color overspray.

Mine was pretty much black. Any overspray that would've been there when new had worn off over the years

Do you recall what years the red/orange sealer was used? Or what plants?

I don't recall the base color on most of mine without looking at them, but I know my '77 K5 has the red/orange sealer and my '88 Suburban has gray sealer. I think my old '90 Suburban was gray sealer too.

My 85 swb has body color, heavy overspray over a gray sealer. It almost looks intentional…

Looking at the last photo “where did I park my truck”. My Square was built across the border in Canada and they probably had the same kind of lot.

They did; maybe not quite as big (Flint ran a lot of repair; Oshawa was probably the highest quality plant).

My white '77 is still original and happens to be on the lift. Looks like gray or black with white overspray. you have to look around the surface rust and lack of gas tank. those are currently being addressed.

Ed, Is there any white overspray on the underside of the front and rear inner wheel wells?
