Anybody know what the purpose is of this metal plate that is on the back side of front wheel wells? I have a 1977 Scottsdale C10.

I've never known it's purpose other than to collect dirt/debris and rust out before the rest of the inner fender does. IDK why GM did that
This ten fold. Here in AZ with our 6" of rain a year, they are rusted out and you have to fabricate patches for them

Where do you live here in Arizona that you get 6" of rain a year? I live in the Verde Valley and that's about 2 years worth, lol

I actually looked it up online for Phoenix and they said a larger amount that I thought couldn't be true so I picked 6 inches. If we get a good storm, I could see it, otherwise, not a chance in ....

I am sure your dryer than me but to give other people on the board an idea of how dry it is here, I have sandblasted parts in my garage for the past 4 years that have not flash rusted yet. They look the same as the day I picked them up.
