What is this column part?

Doing some maintenance on my steering column, saw this. What are those two copper contacts in the white connector, just to the left of the cylinder retainer? Ground for the signal switch? Are they supposed to be bent like that?

Yes, they are supposed to be bent. When the key is inserted the back contact is pushed by a little tab the key moves making contact, and VOILA ! you get the BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ sound.

Or, you disturbed that wasp nest you meant to clean out. You'll know, though.
