Rear speakers for K10 with 3 point seatbelt

Ok fellas, I've got a 1977 K10 Stepside and I want to put rear speakers in the corners behind the bench seat. Problem is I bought the corner bracket that fits a 6x9 speaker from Amazon, but when I got it today, it's not going to work because the seatbelt retractor is mounted in the way. Didn't see that coming!!! Has anyone had this issue? I was thinking about trying to make my own corner mount for a speaker, but I was wondering if anyone has done that already and maybe they can share some tips on what they did. Any help would be great.

Without pics it's just wind....
The "Search" function here will show numerous seat belt discussions.
Those big original plastic colored seat belt covers... in my '78 the retractors mount to the floor and the covers were basically just cracked plastic bits.
The replacement retractors I've found don't have covers, and with them there's plenty of room.
It would be a good 3D printer project to make one....

I'm assuming you have the same retractor as our '76 shop truck. Without having one of those brackets on hand, hard to say, but I think it'd be pretty easy to modify to work. I think you could get away with cutting a slot for the bottom retractor mount to slid into the speaker bracket and just slip the speaker bracket behind/around it.

Have a set of stock speaker brackets on e bay. Unsure if they will fit with retractor shown in last picture.

I built some boxes as small as I could, and still accept 6"x9" speakers.
They sit in the corners facing up, and I get a lot more sound than traditional corner mounts that point toward the back of the seat.

Later on I put little 3/4" blocks under the outside bottoms of both speakers, making them point towards the dome light, which worked even better for hearing the rear passenger side.

Next time, I'll make the boxes with an angled top.

Oops, I had just assumed his '77 were like mine... but I didn't have a pic.
There's another difference in these trucks to make note of.

I was looking to find someone who might have a pic of a custom corner speaker mount for the rear corners behind the seats like the pic above. The problem is the brackets you can get for a 6x9 are too tall and you can't mount them in the corners or cut them down because the seat belt retractor is in the way. I might have to do some cut, chop, rebuild stuff to some sheet metal or figure something else out.

Without seeing your retractor this is just a shot in the dark. But the retractor I posted has plenty of room behind it for the speaker bracket to slide behind it. It mounts up top to the rear cab inner panel, then it only has 1 leg mounting it (that silver bracket on the bottom of it) at the bottom that's up against the door jamb. I could def make a 6x9 bracket work in this truck with nothing more than a notch to clear that bottom leg. If you have a different retractor, I could see how it might be more difficult or impossible but with this style, it's definitely doable

Here with the same search. Normal corner setups will not fit due to the mid-way up the door mounted retractor that Hucked posted. Currently considering just throwing a couple of small boxes in behind the seat.

I am considering just putting the speakers that the original owner of this paid someone to install. This truck legit had a set of 4 of this exact setup installed and someone actually charged the owner to do it.
